Happy New Year! This past was definitely an interesting year. This year I’ve set some goals for myself. This post is mostly things I would like to improve on in my life but it’s also a list that might inspire other people who read this.

1. Choose Experiences over material things

I’ve been getting into the habit of investing my money on experiences versus material objects. I’m okay with spending money on a comedy show in NYC or a concert in Philly versus a shopping spree on clothing that I’ll eventually donate within the next season.


This is a big one for me because I love to Travel and I have so many places on my bucket list that I want to visit. In 2018 I managed to go to Japan and Puerto Rico, which were top two on my travel list. This year I’m heading to New Orleans. A goal I like to follow is traveling somewhere new at least once a year or take small weekend trips every few months.

3. Focus more on physical and mental health

This is just being more self-aware of your mental and physical health and taking the proper steps to take care of your body. I’ve been going to the gym at least 2-3 times a week to relieve stress. I feel better physically and mentally. When I can’t get to the gym, I try to paint or draw. Every person is different but try to find something that helps you feel better.

4. Cooking More

This is a big one for me because some days I’m just too tired to cook a full meal and I’ll just make whatever is microwavable or order takeout. This year I want to set a schedule of what I’m going to make for the week and I’ll have leftovers to bring to work the next day. Plus I’ll be saving more money and eating healthier.

5. Career Change

I recently graduated from college and I don’t mind where I work now but I’m not enjoying it anymore. I’m ready to move out of my comfort zone and start my career path. My goal this year is the find a job in Philadelphia and hopefully, save up enough money to move there the following year.

6. Being more positive

Some days are hard but I try to live my life with gratitude and have a positive mindset. If I have a positive mindset my days will seem a lot better. I try not to focus on the negative too much because it will end of ruining my mood for the rest of the day. It’s okay if you feel stuck in life but you’ll get to where you want to be eventually.

7. Better sleep habits

For some reason, I have a bad habit of not going to bed early. It’s also because of my work schedule, some days I work 2-10pm and it throws my sleep pattern off. This year I will be turning my phone off an hour before I go to bed and try to read more books.

8. Creating more content

This is another big one for me because last year I downloaded Photoshop to teach myself graphic design. I started taking blogging more seriously. I started a shop on redbubble to sell my designs. But recently I had to end my subscription to photoshop because it was getting to be too expensive.

Now I’ve been trying to learn Gimp and Inkscape but I’ve slowed down on the content, This year I want to expand my portfolio and rebrand my blog/ design accounts

9. Reading more

I bought a few books already and I wanted to start reading more again. I miss living in a city because I used to fly through books while waiting for the train to show up. 10. Saving money

This goes back to stop spending money on useless material items and going out to eat all the time. I want to save up money for another trip and put money away into my savings account. I’m trying to start saving money when I want to move to Philly.

11. Consistent self-care routine

As I pay more attention to my mental health, I like to set self-care routines. I try to set aside one night a week to take of myself. usually, I’ll shower put on a Facemask, read, draw, listen to music, drink some tea, and step away from my phone.

12. Cut back on coffee and alcohol

I don’t drink coffee like I used to. If I get coffee I end up only drinking half of it and wasting my money on it. I’ve recently switched to drinking a lot of matcha tea. I want to cut back more on alcohol because now it just makes me feel bloated and I don’t want to spend the money on it. Going out every weekend catches up to you when you look at your bank account.

13. Routine cleaning habits

This is me wanting to maintain a clean and minimalistic environment. I want to clean the house once a week, make my bed every morning, clear out my closet every season, and throw away unnecessary old junk. I have a hard time working in a cluttered space. A cluttered space equals and cluttered mind.

14. Cut back on Social media

I find myself scrolling through social media endlessly. It’s a very bad habit unless I’m using it for business purposes. I have a bad habit of using social media to help me wake up in the morning. All the time I waste on my phone, I could be doing something productive like brainstorming a new blog post.

15. Build better relations with friends and family

I try to check in on people once a week or check in on people I don’t see at least once a month. It’s been 4 years and I still keep in touch with people from when I still lived in North Jersey. I’m glad I did because I love hearing about what they’ve been up to. My goal for this year is to try to spend time with someone at least once a week.
