It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. With my internship I’m always on my computer or phone. So I needed some time to step away from the electronics and actually step outside enjoy the real world. Sometimes you need to put your phone down and reflect on things and yourself.
While I’ve been away from the computer I’ve been trying out some self care habits. I’ve been surfing more, I’m still learning but there’s something about being in the ocean that relieves my stress. I’ve spent some time with friends and family, eating healthier. exercising, fixing my sleeping habits. listening to new music, getting my finances straight, and doing things that I want to do. the list is still growing
Sometimes you just need a little self care and do things that benefit you.In todays post I’m going to share some self care tips that can be beneficial to you
Keep yourself healthy: Drinking more water. Eat more fruits and vegetables and try to cut back on carbs, refined sugars, and salt. Exercise more: Go to a yoga class, hit the gym, go for a walk/run, enjoy nature, etc.
The reason I picked up surfing is because I like to swim but not many gyms in my area have a pool and I always thought surfing was cool. It’s a great form of exercise too.
Get enough sleep: I’ve been trying to decrease my screen time at night. One of my worst habits is not going to bed early because I’m constantly on my phone. Highly suggest powering down an hour before you go to bed. Always try to get 8 hours of sleep. I’ve been trying to sleep early because I hate waking up late, I feel so lazy and unproductive.
tips on going to sleep early:
- Drink some chamomile tea
- read a book
- listening to some calming music. I prefer listening to lofi-hiphop. check out this playlist What you need to be listening to while studying
Social media detox: honestly the reason I’m always on my phone all the time is because of social media. I deleted my snap chat a while ago and it’s been the best feeling not wondering what people are too all the time. As for Instagram, twitter, tumblr, and Facebook. I need them for work but I try not to check them as often.
Declutter: Get rid of old clothes an items that are taking up too much space. nothing feels better than throwing things away and have extra space around the house.
Also clean your house or room. I always feel 10 better when and more productive when my room is clean.A cluttered space creates a cluttered mind.
Get creative: paint, bullet journal, write, color, make a new dinner recipe,DIY project.
Check your expenses: Do a financial cleanse. Cut out anything is costing you too much money. stop spending money on things you don’t need
Spend time with friends and family: Can’t stress this enough because we all need human interaction. Spending your time with good people and good vibes will definitely increase your mood. It’s good to talk to people about your feeling and not keep everything bottled up.
Another tip: cut out any toxic/negative people in your life.
Treat yourself: go shopping, eat at your favorite restaurant, have a spa day, go on a trip, be selfish and do anything that makes you happy.
And finally take the time to love yourself, understanding your emotions, and live a more fulfilling life that benefits your physical and mental health.
